Climate and Weather

The climate of Kazakhstan can be defined as dry and continental. Winters here are very cold and with little snow, while summers are usually very hot. However, weather conditions vary depending on the region of the country and its territorial features. In general, the country has low humidity. The average annual amount of atmospheric precipitation is insignificant (approximately 100-500 mm per year) and falls mostly in spring and early summer.

The Kazakh climate is also characterized by significant temperature ranges. In winter, the average temperature in the north of the country drops to -18.7 ° C, while in the south in January the temperature is at -1.5 ° C. In mountainous areas, there is a lot of snow in winter, which creates ideal conditions for trips to ski resorts.

The average temperature in July in the northern part of Kazakhstan reaches + 19 ° С. In the south of the republic, summer is hotter and longer. The average July temperature is + 28.8 ° С, and sometimes it reaches +45 ° С. During summer vacations, most Kazakhstanis prefer a beach holiday on the sandy shores of lakes or hiking to the Tien Shan or Altai mountains.

In desert and steppe zones, the climate is rather severe. Winters are often accompanied by snowstorms, and dust storms sometimes occur in summer.

The sun in Kazakhstan shines often for the inhabitants of the country. The number of clear sunny days throughout the republic predominates over cloudy ones, which makes happy tourists traveling here.
