Khan Shatyr is a popular shopping and entertainment center among the residents of Astana. It is also the largest tent in the world and is mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records.
Its construction project was headed by British architect Norman Foster. The grand opening where the world famous Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli gave a concert, took place in 2010.
The building has an area of 127 thousand square meters. There are supermarkets, cafes and restaurants, playgrounds, cinemas, sports complex, water park, swimming pool in the mall. Its main highlight is the beach with a tropical climate, where the temperature stays at around +35 degrees all year round. Its sand was brought from the Maldives.
Khan Shatyr was included in the list of the best eco buildings in the world according to Forbes Style magazine.
