Baiterek monument

The Baiterek monument is a main symbol of the capital of Kazakhstan. The most recognizable monument is located in the center of  Astana.

The project of its construction was initiated by the ex-president of the republic Nursultan Nazarbayev and was completed by 2002. Its architect was Akmurza Rustembekov.

The height of the monument reaches 105 meters, the diameter of the ball at its top is 22 meters. On the lower level of Baiterek there are a cafe, an aquarium and a small gallery. From here, an elevator goes up to the ball, where the bar and panoramic hall are located. A breathtaking view of the city opens from this point.

The monument is as a symbol of a new stage in the history of the Kazakh people, marked by the transfer of the capital from the southern part to the north to Astana.

One of its elements is a globe with autographs of representatives of various religions, which symbolizes the unity of society. Baiterek is presented as a young, growing tree representing the state on its way to a brighter future.
