The Palace of Peace and Reconciliation is one of the main attractions of Astana.
The palace was created under the direction of British architect Norman Foster to host the «Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions». Its construction was completed in 2006, and Montserrat Caballe was invited to the grand opening of the palace.
The building, which has a capacity of 1302 seats, has a pyramidal shape. The area is 28 thousand square meters. The opera hall is equipped with 20 dressing rooms and an orchestra pit for 80 people. There are 4 galleries in the «Cheops Atrium» hall with presentation of the Plan for the Development of Astana until 2030.
On the top floor there is the «Cradle» hall with a glass dome. Pigeons are illustrated on the dome, symbolizing the people living in the territory of Kazakhstan.
Today, the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation hosts various conferences, art exhibitions, concerts and other events in its spacious and well-equipped rooms.
