Lake Borovoe

Lake Borovoe or Burabay is a lake located in the north of Kazakhstan in the Akmola region on the territory of the Burabay National Natural Park. There are also a number of lakes situated not far from Borovoe.

The lake received this name, because its shores are covered by coniferous forests. The lake is not deep (7 meters deep), the water in the reservoir is very clear. Reeds and canes grow along the western and northwestern coasts. The coast is sandy in some parts and stony in others.

In the northwestern bay of the lake there is a rocky island Zhumbaktas in the shape of a mushroom and Mount Okzhetpes. There are cliffs on the southern, western and northern shores. The famous Burabay resort and the Museum of Nature were opened on the east bank.

Fishing lovers can catch a lot of fish such as perch, carp, bream and others. It is also ideal for hiking and cycling. Beautiful nature, fresh air, curative water of the lake, wonderful landscapes attract many tourists to Borovoe who come to relax and take care of their health.
