The State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan

The State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan, one of the oldest museums in Central Asia, was founded 136 years ago.

The museum’s exposition includes about 250 thousand exhibits, including about 60 thousand archaeological, over 80 thousand numismatic and 16 thousand ethnographic items reflecting Uzbek history from primitive times to the present day.

The museum building has 4 floors. Among the unique exhibits of the museum: the remains of a primitive man from the Selungur grotto (1.5 million years BC); a stone statue depicting two snakes found on the territory of the Fergana Valley (II thousand BC); decor from the palace of Bukhara rulers of the VI-VIII centuries; fragments of wall paintings of the VII-VIII centuries found on the settlement of Afrasiyab; a carved wooden column of the 10th century from the village of Auburdon.

There is a souvenir shop at the museum, where you can buy products of Uzbek folk and applied art: embroidery, carpets, miniatures, ceramics.
