Siab Bazaar (from uzbek – Siyob bozori), the largest and oldest bazaar located in the central part of the city of Samarkand. It is also one of the most visited places of the city by tourists.
By visiting this place, you will plunge into the real atmosphere of Asian faces and will be able to understand well what the city lives and “breathes”.
The name of the bazaar comes from the name of one of the historical and geographical areas of the city – Siab, and the Siab River flowing near the bazaar. The word “Siab” is translated from Persian and Tajik as black water/river.
Local residents buy a wide variety of essential goods at the bazaar, including Samarkand flatbreads (17 types) and tandyr-nan, vegetables and fruits, household products and so on. The market is known for its variety of meat products. You can find absolutely everything at the bazaar.
The shopping malls in the bazaar are divided by the types of goods sold on them: food, meat, vegetables, fruits, nuts, oriental sweets, spices, cereals, bread and tortillas. Separate pavilions with shops are allocated for clothing and household supplies.
In addition, there are craft rows in the bazaar, where the manufacture of certain products is also made by craftsmen right on the spot and sold. Among the crafts presented are wood carving, forging and engraving on copper and other types of metal.
