Kalyan Mosque is the main Friday mosque of Bukhara. It is the second largest after the Bibi-Khanym in Samarkand of the remaining juma (friday)-mosques in Central Asia. According to the inscriptions above the entrance, the mosque was built at the beginning of the XV century. Accommodates up to 12,000 people at a time.
The mosque is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The architecture of the religious building is a rectangle with four aivans. The mosque has 7 entrances, the main one is located on the east side, this entrance group is decorated with a portal made of mosaics and Arabic script. The outer dome is mounted on a mosaic drum. Blue domes are located on both sides of the main building.
