The Alay Bazaar is one of the oldest bazaars, which appeared presumably in the XII-XIII centuries on the Great Silk Road connecting East Turkestan with the Fergana Valley.
In ancient times, oriental bazaars were striking in their diversity, people not only traded here, they came to exchange news, and wandering pilgrims spread new ideas and religions.
Today, the Alay Bazaar is one of the largest bazaars, there are about 2000 different stalls decorated in Oriental traditions, offering oriental sweets, food, various clothes and even jewelry.
In 2016, after the reconstruction of the bazaar, restaurants and teahouses offering national dishes were opened for the convenience of visitors.
