Pahlavan Mahmud Mausoleum

This is an architectural complex in Khiva (Uzbekistan), one of the best works of Khiva architecture of the mid-XIX century. It has long been considered a sacred place, where Uzbeks, Turkmens, and representatives of other nations have made and are making pilgrimages.

Over time, a revered place of pilgrimage arose here, and later a complex named after him appeared.

The complex of the mausoleum of Pahlavan Mahmud was built only in 1701, as evidenced by the engraving on the stone gate. The dome of the mausoleum is covered with blue glazed tiles with a sparkling gilded top.

Initially, the mausoleum was modest and small, but quickly became a place of pilgrimage with a large number of mosques. The walls of the mausoleum are decorated with magnificent majolica. In the Pahlavan Mahmud Mausoleum, people pray and drink holy water.
