Kalyan Minaret

The Kalyan Minaret, also known as the Bukhara Minaret, is the minaret of the Friday Mosque in the historical center of Bukhara, built by Karakhanid Arslan Khan.

The main purpose of the minaret is to call Bukharans to prayer. Its height is 46.5 m, and its entire fundamental part goes to a depth of 10 m. The diameter of the base reaches 9 m. The minaret has preserved 3 belts, on which there are inscriptions: the date of construction – 1127, the name of the donor – the ruler of Bukhara Arslankhan and the name of the builder – Usto Barno.
