The Palace of the Republic is one of the main concert halls in Kazakhstan and a popular attraction in Almaty.
It was built in 1970 and was named in honor of Lenin. It received the current name “Palace of the Republic” in 1991 after the collapse of the USSR.
In 2010-2011, instead of restoration work, the Palace of the Republic was reconstructed, as a result the original architectural appearance of the building was completely lost.
The spacious hall of the Palace can receive up to 2 567 spectators. The palace is used for various cultural and social events of city and republican significance. It often hosts scientific conferences and festivals, congresses, meetings of trade union and other organizations. At the same time, the Palace of the Republic is a popular stage for local and international artists.
