Kolsay lakes

Kolsay lakes are considered as one of the most beautiful corners of Kazakhstan. They are often called the pearl of the Northern Tien Shan.

The picturesque lakes are located in Kolsay gorge not far from the border with Kyrgyzstan and at a distance of 330 km from Almaty. The lakes are hidden in the coniferous forests of the Tien Shan.

Kolsay lakes consist of three lakes located at 1800, 2250 and 2700 meters above sea level. The first lake has a length of 1 km, width of 400 meters and depth of 80 meters. It is located at an altitude of 1818 meters. The second lake at an altitude of 2552 m is the largest of the three lakes. It has an incredible beauty reminding a turquoise crystal bowl. Finally, the third lake is located at an altitude of 2 700 meters, 6 km from the border with Kyrgyzstan. Here from the Sary Bulak pass, a beautiful view on Issyk Kul Lake opens.

Kolsay lakes are located in the territory of national park. They attract many tourists and it is an ideal place for outdoor recreation, hiking, horse riding and cycling.
