Kapchagai reservoir

Kapchagai reservoir is considered one of the largest in Kazakhstan. There are several hotels, water attractions and the largest water park in the Almaty region.

In summer, the reservoir resembles a resort, picnics, swimming, sunbathing are arranged here.

The reservoir was created in 1970 to regulate the flow of the Ili River, until that time there was the village of Ili built in the century before last. After the flooding, the residents of the village were resettled in other villages, and the village itself remained under water.

Today, the Kapchagai reservoir is considered one of the most visited places in the Almaty region.
