Eshkiolmes archaeological complex is located on the territory of the Eskeldinsky district of the Almaty region. This picturesque place is located about 30 km from the city of Taldykorgan.
Here is the largest accumulation of petroglyphs, remains of settlements and burial grounds of different eras. The first finds were discovered at the end of the 19th century, their exact number is unknown, since archaeologists find new, previously unknown monuments and petroglyphs every year.
In total, there are more than 250 archaeological sites here. Petroglyphs from the Bronze Age to the Late Middle Ages are collected there, more than 30,000 petroglyphs belong to the Saka era. Most often, they depict animals and hunting scenes; large images of goats and horsemen were also found.
