Derevyannoe lake is located at an altitude of 519 m in the Uygur district near the village of Charyn.
The name “Derevyannoe” in translation from Russian means “wooden”. The lake got its name because of the numerous trees flooded in the lake. The southern and eastern shores of the lake are surrounded by salt marshes, swamps and turang groves, the western and northern shores are surrounded by desert sands.
The wooden lake is a favorite place for fishermen; carp, grass carp, bream and other fish species are found here. Of the animals currently here you can see a wild boar, a fox and a hare.
