Bartogai reservoir is located in the Bartogai tract of the Almaty region at an altitude of 1010 meters. It is surrounded by the majestic mountains of Sogety in the west and Toraigyr in the east.
The reservoir was commissioned in 1986 and is used to store about 320 million cubic meters of water and irrigate fields at the foot of the Ile Alatau in the summer. The width of the reservoir is 3 km, the length from north to south is 6 km, and the average depth is 25 m. The Big Almaty Canal originates from the Bartogai reservoir.
At this time, the reservoir is a popular place for fishing, trout, osman, carp and other species are found here. There is also an opportunity to go rafting and kayaking.
