Ashgabat is the capital of Turkmenistan, located in the central part of the country. The population of approximately 1.2 million people.
The city has an international airport. Launched in 2016, the airport is designed in the shape of the bird “Lachin” means falcon. The falcon is considered a symbol of bravery and courage in Turkmenistan, and the airport has won architectural awards. One of the city’s most striking features is its extensive use of white marble, which has earned it the nickname “City of White Marble.”
An important part of Ashgabat’s history is its development after the 1948 earthquake, when most of the city was destroyed and a major reconstruction began.
Today, Ashgabat attracts tourists with its landmarks such as the Neutrality Monument, the Independence Arch, as well as modern museums and cultural institutions. The city is surrounded by the Kopetdag Mountains and is located in a Kara Kum desert area, which gives it a special atmosphere.
