Ashgabat TV Tower

The Ashgabat TV Tower, also known as the Turkmenistan Tower, is an iconic structure that stands atop the Kopet Dag mountains overlooking the capital city of Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Completed in 2011, the tower rises to a height of 211 meters (about 692 feet), making it the tallest structure in Turkmenistan. The tower serves as both a telecommunications hub and a symbol of the country’s modernization efforts.

The design of the tower is modern with a blend of traditional Turkmen motifs. It is notable for the eight-pointed star, which is a common element in Turkmen culture and is represented in the central design of the structure. This star, known as the Oguz Khan star, is also present on the national emblem of Turkmenistan, symbolizing the connection between the nation’s heritage and modern technology.

Primarily, the Ashgabat TV Tower is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility, transmitting TV and radio signals across Turkmenistan. It also houses observation decks, a restaurant, and other amenities that offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the capital and the Kopet Dag mountain range.
