In 10 km to the east of the town Karakol, in Arashan river valley is a beautiful Altyn Arashan keeping inside a lot of interesting places and attractions.
In the lower reaches of the river is the village of Ak-Suu (the old name – Teploklyuchenka), immediately followed by the village the gorge, extending fully opens gaze of the traveller.
One of the slopes of the gorge Altyn-Arashan overgrown with dense spruce forest and the other is covered with a colourful carpet of mountain herbs, flowers, fruits, and low bushes.
From wild animals in the gorge can be seen mountain goats, deer, bears, and marmots.
The most well-known and frequently visited place in the gorge – hot springs with radon water. A few hours in the hike can lead to moraine-glacial lake Kashka-Suu or to majestic waterfalls Sharkyratma, Tash Tektir, Kuldurek.
At an altitude of over 3,500 meters is another amazing Lake Ala-Kul. The highest point, which can be reached from the gorge Altyn-Arashan – a wall of Aksu (5022 m) with a snow-white ice cap and the peak Soviet Russia (4900 m).
