Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival – Bishkek

Day 1. Arrival – Bishkek

Arrival at Manas Airport in Bishkek where our team will pick up you and drive you to the hotel situated in the capital.

After breakfast in the hotel, we start our city tour in Bishkek. We will visit the heart of the city, Ala-Too Square where the State Historical Museum is located. After we can enjoy a walk in Oak Park, one of the favorite places of local people. Bishkek is known as the greenest city in Central Asia thanks to its countless parks and alleys making the city a great place to live.

After lunch, we will have time to visit the local market Osh bazar. Here you can appreciate the creativity and talent of local artisans. Just as you step the market, you plunge into the real oriental atmosphere: an interminable stream of people, a big variety of goods and colors.

In the evening, we go to one of the best restaurants in Bishkek where you can taste delicious Kyrgyz national dishes.

Day 2. Bishkek – Burana – Chon Kemin

Breakfast in the hotel.

Our journey begins with a visit to the Burana Tower. The Burana Tower is an ancient minaret in the Chuy Valley in the north part of Kyrgyzstan. The tower with funerary monuments, earthworks, remains of the castle and three mausoleums – that’s all that last out of the ancient Balasagyn town that was founded by Karakhanids at the end of the ninth century.

Lunch on the road in the cafe or in the guesthouse.

Then we head to Chon Kemin valley. It is a unique national park in Kyrgyzstan thanks to its beauty and rich diversity of plants. The incredible landscapes of this region strike the imagination. In the gorge, you can walk in the surroundings.

Day 3. Chon Kemin – Kochkor – Son Kul

From the village our road leads again to the gorge, we will drive the serpentine road along the mountain river. The goal of the day is to reach Son Kul Lake, so we have to overcome the mountain pass Kalmak Ashuu (3400m).

Lunch on the road.

When we arrive in the yurt camp in Son Kul, you can value the hospitality of the nomads; get to know their lifestyle and their customs. Dinner and overnight in the yurt camp.

Note: yurt capacity 6 people. But during the low season, you can be accommodated 2 pax per yurt according to availability

Day 4. Son Kul – Kazarman

Breakfast in the yurt camp, relax at the Song Kul lake shore. Lunch in the yurt Camp.

After lunch, our road towards the south of the country, Kazarman village.

In the evening, we get Kazarman. You will be positively surprised by the hospitality of the local population. It is generally known that the people in the south part of the country are very welcoming and friendly.

Day 5. Kazarman – Arslanbob

After breakfast, we continue our trip towards Arslanbob, the unique walnut-fruit forest in the world.

Lunch in the local small restaurant on the road.

As we arrive at the village, we take a walk to the first small waterfall of 25 meters. After, we go up to the panoramic point with a beautiful view.

Day 6. Arslanbob – Uzgen – Osh

Breakfast in the guesthouse. Transfer to Osh.

On the road, we visit Uzgen town, the capital of the Karakhanid State in the 11th and 12th centuries. We visit its famous minaret that is considered to be one of the best-preserved monuments of that period in Kyrgyzstan. Lunch in the restaurant.

Arrival to Osh. We visit the famous Suleiman Mountain, one of the main shrines of the Islamic world in Central Asia. Then we follow the way of all pilgrims up to the top of the hill where you watch a little mosque of Babur, The Great Mogol Dynasty founder, and take a bird-eye’s view of the city.

Day 7. Osh – Sary Tash – Sary Mogol

Departure for Sary Tach. Lunch on the road (lunchboxes).

During the trip, you can enjoy the changing panorama of mountains, rivers, and gorges.

We cross the Taldyk pass (3615 m). Then the descent to the village of Sary Tach and Sary Mogol.

Day 8. Sary Mogol – Kyzyl Art pass – Murgab (Tajikistan)

Today we have to cross the pass Kyzyl Art (4282 meters), the border point between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Trip to Murgab (135 km) through the Ak Baytal Pass (4 655 m), the highest section of the road in the former USSR. Here the terrain becomes barren and rocky. This region is the dwelling place of ethnic Kyrgyz.

Murgab is located in a valley at an altitude of about 3000 m above the sea level and surrounded by high peaks.  The night sky has the best view of the Milky Way ever-imaginable.

Day 9. Murgab – Langar

It will be a long day since our trip will be towards Bulunkul Lake and by the end of the day, you will arrive at the Vakhan Valley. The drive to the Bulunkul Lake will be through the picturesque Alichur valley.

The village of Bulunkul is a small settlement on the banks of Bulunkul and Yashilkul lakes and consists of only a few families. A picnic at the shore at the lake of Yashilkul.

Return to the main road to reach Langar (126 km) along the Khargush Pass 4,344 m.

When we enter the Wakhan corridor, there will be amazing views to the Pamirs on the right and to the Hindu-Kush on the left.  As we will be driving by the Afghan border you will have a chance to see the Afghan settlements. The view is severe and deserted.

Day 10. Langar – Khorog

After breakfast, we will head towards the Ishkashim, which stands at the mouth of the Wakhan River. It is a historical place wherein the 19th century the British and Russian Empires signed an agreement on adding a strip of the Wakhan valley to Afghanistan and creating a neutral buffer zone between the two empires.

We continue the way towards Khorog (130 km) – the center of the Gorny Badakhshan region.

On the way, we will see the hot springs.

Day 11. Khorog – Kalaykhumb

In the morning you will start driving to Kalaykhumb, along the Panj River.

You will be able to enjoy the spectacular view of the mountains; on the other side of the river, you will have a chance to see the lifestyle of Afghans.

From Khorog, the road joins the river Panj, which forms Tajikistan’s border with Afghanistan. This is a fascinating drive. On the Tajik side of the river, the road is asphalted and buildings have electricity and are constructed using metal and glass. On the Afghan side – only about 100 m distant – the road is a donkey track and buildings are built of mud and wood.

Day 12. Kalaykhumb – Dushanbe

Today, the whole day will pass on the road, driving from Khalaikum to the capital of Tajikistan.

We will drive via Kulob and Dangara cities. The beautiful landscape and view of snow peaks and several passes will not leave indifferent.

Stop on the way in Khulbuk fort, Nurek water reservoir and in some villages to introduce with local life.

Day 13. Dushanbe – Penjikent – Samarkand

After breakfast, we go towards the Tajik – Uzbek border in Penjikent.

Transfer to Samarkand. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel.

Day 14. Samarkand

We visit the Registan Square, the ensemble of three madrasahs and the Gur-Amir Mausoleum, a world-known masterpiece of Central Asian architecture.

Lunchtime.

In the afternoon you will explore other miracles of the city: the Bibi Khanum Mosque, constructed in 1399 by the best architects and artisans from Khorossan, Azerbaijan, Persia, and India.

Later we visit the Siyab Bazaar, the most ancient and biggest in Samarkand; the Shakhi-Zinda ensemble with more than 20 buildings, built from early XI up to XIV cc. Each mausoleum has its own style of decoration and great fantasy of skillful artisans.

Day 15. Samarkand – Tashkent

Breakfast at the hotel.  At 09:00 departure to Tashkent.

Day 16. Tashkent

Breakfast at the hotel. We start the sightseeing tour.

The first discovery by the visit to the complex of Khast-i-Imam (reconstructed in 2007), the religious center of Tashkent. The architectural ensemble includes several constructions, built in XVI-XIX cc. Then you will discover beautiful madrasa Kukeldash and Juma Mosque.  Lunchtime.

In the afternoon we continue and visit The Museum of Applied Art of Tashkent, the ancient palace of Russian diplomat Alexander Polovtsev that is transformed to the museum in 1938; Explore beautiful and unusual underground stations of Tashkent, after that, we exploring one of the biggest Bazaar of Uzbekistan, Chorsu.

Day 17. Tashkent – Shymkent – Turkestan

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning transfer to Uzbek-Kazakh border in Chernyaevka (1 h. drive)

Today we start to discover Kazakhstan, the biggest country in Central Asia.

After we go towards the majestic cave “Akmeshit”. The cave is a unique natural object not only in terms of scale, but also amazing “decoration.”

Transfer to Otrar. We visit the Mausoleum of the great master and spiritual mentor Arystan Bab and Otrar Tobe.

Then we go towards Turkistan city. We visit the Mausoleum of the great Sufi poet Khoja Ahmet Yasawi.

Day 18. Turkestan - Shymkent - Taraz

After breakfast, we come back to Shymkent.

Here we visit the DendroPark and do the short sightseeing tour. Lunch in the restaurant.

After the transfer to Taraz city. We visit the Mausoleums Aisha Bibi, Babadzha Khatun, and Karakhan.

Aisha Bibi mausoleum was built in the XII century is the architectural monument of the Republic’s significance. The mausoleum looks incredibly light and elegant. For more than eight centuries, it remains standing in spite of wind and weather, as a witness of great love.

Day 19. Taraz – Almaty

We will visit the Park 28 guards – Panfilov, named in honor of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The Cathedral – a wooden structure built without a nail. Republic Square – the main square in Almaty is the largest and most beautiful park in the city with its magnificent ensemble of modern architecture, location, holiday parades, festivals.

After lunch we visit Kok Tobe, a hilltop-viewing platform is located, which is visible from the beautiful panorama of the city of Almaty, as well as the endless horizon of the steppe area.

Then we visiting Big Almaty Lake located close to the city.
