The height of  Kalmak-Ashu is 3447 meters above sea level. After passing through it, you can get to the northern shore of Lake Son-Kul.

It is noteworthy that the road through the pass is open only in summer and autumn (June to October), in the rest of the time it remains impassable due to heavy snow.

On the way to the pass nature full of surprises: endless stone deserts are replaced by alpine meadows, decorated with beautiful edelweiss.
